the infamous chairs

9 Dec

i wish i had a before photo to document the horrendousness of golden velvet 70’s perfection that started this upholstery journey but alas, i did not capture their beauty. this is the closest i have and this is post gold velvet.

the second project per se that i’ve actually completed in the house (with a little help from a local upholstery man) are these funky chairs.

i knew we needed something to go in the sitting room area of our kitchen/dining room. it was sad and empty. i could not afford said chairs that i envisioned but i was determined. i kept my eye out on craigs list and at local thrift stores until i found the pair with the most potential.

i took them to a few upholstery places for quotes (who knew upholstery was so stinking expensive?!) and settled on Ace Upholstery in Marietta. I primed and painted with black lacquer:

and the finished product:

YAY for finished projects!
