bamboo at a bargain

27 Jan

last weekend, i ventured out of my comfort zone and made a bid on craigslist. we need a dresser for our bedroom and we just were not ready to make a big investment in an antique mahogany or classic vintage piece. so i’ve been casually scoping out consignment furniture stores and of course, cragslist.

the process? scarily easy. i found a dresser i thought had potential and emailed the lister. we worked out a n agreement and alex and i made the drive to pick up the dresser last saturday. alex was 90% sure the dresser would fit in his blazer. y’all know what that means, right? it didn’t fit.

we called in a favor to a nearby friend and borrowed their suv (where both of their backs seats conveniently folded down). we got her back to the house and she is hanging out in our kitchen while we start the prime/paint process.

i was thinking white high gloss (what else) like the shot below

until i saw this

and now i’m torn. at least i’ve got a million coats of primer to mull it over. and for a whopping $40 we have a new dresser.

I really like your new dresser – and the price. Good shopping, Kate. I can’t wait to see the finished product!

You are so up to date on the trends because in my marathon HGTV watching last night, they got one from the auction and painted it a glossy white. I love the white, but also am tore with the two toned one….can’t wait to see the finished product!
