this and that

29 Jul

i took a blogging hiatus. it wasn’t intentional. but i didn’t really feel like blogging. and then my husband started asking me every day when i was going to update my blog. and then other people started asking and well, i guess i just needed a reason. and what better reason than a new baby! my friend mere just gave birth to a beautiful, healthy, precious little boy this morning. keep her in your thoughts for a speedy recovery and lots of rest.

i signed up for the disney princess half marathon. i’m pretty psyched. i fully plan on running this event in a tutu. seriously. i had trained for the wine and dine relay in october but when i tried to sign up a few weeks ago it was full. i was so depressed that i signed up for the princess half (in february) the next week. i’m trying to keep on track with my training plan and running a 15K on the day i was supposed to do wine and dine and then toying with running the kiawah half in december. we’ll see. 7 miler on sunday. wahoo!

alex is also doing very well with his training. it’s been great seeing how excited he gets when he hits a new milestone in training or has a great ride. he has a triathlon this week in greenville so please wish him luck and hope we does well in the clydesdale division.

speaking of running, i’ve had some pretty run fun experiences lately. two weeks ago i ran on the charles in boston. this week i’ve run by the big national monuments in dc. this is when i really love traveling. nervous about half marathon training in the winter but it can’t be worse than running in 100% humidity.

we got a new puppy! specifically new to us. he’s three years old, a cavalier like chloe (except he’s blenheim aka butterscotch and white) and his name is conner. we’ve had him for three weeks and he’s doing great. he and chloe have even played together a few times which i’m super excited about. they’re going to be great together.

i’m doing a lot of traveling for work. i know it probably seems like i’m always on the road but i got a bit spoiled the first half of the year. i’m on week 7 of a 9 week stretch of getting on at least one plane ride per week. phoenix and ft. lauderdale the next two weeks and then (hopefully) i’ll be home a week before another big travel stretch.

speaking of traveling for work, keep your fingers crossed that a big international trip works out for me. it’s been on the radar for a while and it didn’t look like it was going to happen but there is a miniscule chance it may now. praying for that outside chance. 🙂 as is i’ll be spending a fair amount of the latter half of the year in la so if all else fails i get to spend more time running outdoors.

scouts honor i’ll be back with photos. of new puppy baby conner. of summer so fair. of life. i’m pledging 3 posts a week in august. it’s public now so i’m accountable. 🙂

girls weekend!

1 Jul

just like everyone else in college i had a sketchy roommate. i don’t need to get into details but lets just say we cut our ties in one semester and i lived singleton the next.

but i was also blessed with a lot of stellar roommates. like lifelong friend roommates. in fact, 5 of those fab roomies were in my bridal party.

i recently reunited with 3 of them (my 608 berkeley crew) in savannah, ga. i missed them tremendously. i didn’t realize how much until i saw them. they make my belly ache with laughter and heart warm with love. cheesy i know, but it think they’re precious. i’m lucky to know so many fantastic women!

we had a hard time scheduling a weekend together, one would think that four women sans children could find a plethora of weekends in the summer but that just wasn’t the case. after all, they’re fabulous and invited to lots of parties. 🙂

we settled on savannah and our temporarily northerly displaced friend jacqueline flew down from philadelphia and the next day we all met up at our hotel. and a side note to you hilton garden inn savannah – you had a few staff members that need an attitude adjustment. just sayin’.

we each chose a meal and friday dinner was my choice — a restaurant just off forsyth park named local 1110. what a treat!

here’s amy, ash, and jacq. i told you they were cute.

after dinner and drinks we had a little time to kill before we went to the theater to see SATC2. we walked around forsyth park and found an awesome restaurant bar called “the mansion” on forsyth. funny enough we ended up at their sister restaurant the next night.

all together now.

and here we are at the bar

ash and amy

and then we made our way to the movie. i don’t want to discourage any SATC fans from seeing it because well, you have to. you just do. but i just wish i had gone in without an expectations. it was long. it was uneventful. i might have laughed 3 times. and the girls just ain’t what they were (save samantha). sad stuff.

dont’ we look excited? this is before. no after shot because it was past midnight and we’re now old ladies.

we made our way back to the hotel for to rest for day 2 — shopping and exploring savannah.

to be continued . . . .
