Indy

22 Sep

Who knew?

Last week I spent a little time in the suburbs in Indianapolis. What a yummy surprise. I was lucky enough to travel with another consultant this week and had a few true foodies in my class that served as tour guides.

Night #1: Sapporo for sushi. I never would have thought the ‘burbs of Indy would have such fresh sushi. Highly recommend.

Night #2: El Torrito: Upscale Mexican. Tableside Guac. Enough said.

Night #3: Mama Carollas. AMAZING Italian. seriously. It’s an absolute must see! http://www.mamacarollas.com/

And of course, the Indy airport. I feel like I have enough frequent flier miles to accurately rate airports and I would go on record to say this is one of the top ten airports in the country. Great food options, lots of shopping, and security is cake.

small town southern trip

15 Sep

oystersketchi recently spent two weeks in hattiesburg, ms. it’s a fairly small city that reminds me of anderson, sc. just enough chain and a little southern charm. while visiting i had an excellent oyster dinner at wentzell’s oyster house. this place brought me back to a random childhood trip. wentzell’s is a very small regional chain and on a family trip (what feels like a million years ago) our family enjoyed a night of fried fabulousness. dad bought a t-shirt with their famous “fried, stewed, or nude” logo and i always got a little giggle out of his catchy shirt. well for a little surprise i picked up this deliciously tacky for his birthday! ha, i can’t wait to surprise him with a little oyster nostalgia.
